GENERAL INFORMATION
Electricity is available at 240 volts AC, 50 Hz. 3-pin plugs are used, however sockets are different from those found in most countries and an adaptor socket may be needed. 110v outlets are found in most hotels.
There are three main timezones in Australia - EST (Eastern Standard Time, e.g. NSW, Queensland, Victoria, ACT and Tasmania) - GMT +10h, CST (Central Standard Time, e.g. Northern Territory and South Australia) - GMT + 9.5h - and ..... ( ... Western Australia) - GMT + 8h.
Daylight saving of 1 hour applies (in some states) during the summer months.

Australia's currency consists of coins of 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent and one and two dollar denomination; and notes of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollar denomination. The notes are of plastic (polymer) - Australia was the first to have a complete system of bank notes of this type.
